Free music for all
Ipswich Music Day, part of Ip-Arts season of summer events, returns on July 3, with an amazing line-up of both new and established local talent. Held as usual in the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch Park, the one-day festival kicks off a busy month for the town. Music starts at noon and continues until 8pm with musicians to cater for all musical tastes performing on a variety of stages studded around the park. A stroll along the revitalised Waterfront area of the town is a perfect way to spend a summers day or indeed evening. enjoy a drink at one of the many bustling bars or sample fine local food in some of the towns best restaurants, many of which offer breathtaking views over the marina. This up-and-coming area of Ipswich plays host to a range of events and on July 5 you will be able to witness the Olympic torch relay begin its journey through the town from here.
If you are one of the lucky 10,000 to get a ticket, your next stop will once again be Christchurch Park. Ipswich is celebrating the torchs arrival in style with a variety of entertainment and there is even the opportunity for sports fans to have their picture taken with the torch itself! DanceEast and Aldeburgh Music will also feature in the celebrations.
MESSING ABOUT ON THE RIVER
If exploring the streets and some of the exceptional buildings of Ipswich isnt enough, Orwell River Cruises offer a cruise from the Quay along the River Orwell into Harwich Harbour. Next month at Maritime Ipswich
With 55,000 visitors last year, Maritime Ipswich is set to be the biggest event at the Waterfront this year. Celebrating all things nautical, visitors can look forward to boat trips, naval battle re-enactments, music, market stalls and of course, the best in food and drink. Come down to The Waterfront on the weekend of August 18 and 19 its a diary must-do!
