Age UK Suffolk has launched Secret Gardens of Suffolk in celebration of the charity's 65th anniversary.

Thirteen individual gardens and two village open gardens schemes are participating in the event, which will run throughout the summer, supported by Age UK Suffolk president, The Countess of Euston.

CEO Martyn Green said it would be a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for the charity and to reveal some secret gems around the county. “The key is in the name, Secret Gardens of Suffolk,” he said. “I would really like to encourage people who have a private garden rarely seen by members of the public to unlock the secret they nurture year by year, in support of the valuable work we do supporting older people right across the county.”

Maggie James, fundraising officer at Age UK Suffolk, said the organisation was still looking for more secret gardens in Suffolk.

“They can be any size and they might not usually be open to the public,” she said. “We urge any villages, established gardens or individuals who are interested in taking part to contact me on 01473 298688, or email maggie.james@ageuksuffolk.org to register or to receive further information.”
