Suffolk’s beautiful coast becomes a TV star for three weeks starting May 26 when BBC Two’s Springwatch broadcasts live from RSPB Minsmere.
The Springwatch team – Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games – will present the programme from a purpose-built Springwatch HQ studio on the reserve for three weeks until Thursday June 12. Minsmere is one of the richest areas in the British Isles for wildlife with an unprecedented number of internationally important habitats and the presenters will be hoping to see rare birds such as marsh harriers, avocets and bitterns, as well as Springwatch favourites like badgers, otters and red deer.
Springwatch will also be celebrating its tenth birthday at Minsmere. It has become one of the UK’s longest-running and most-loved wildlife series, started by Bill Oddie, who is excpected to put in a guest appearance.
You and your family can have your own wildlife experience at RSPB Minsmere with personalised tour of the reserve with an expert RSPB guide.
There’s so much to see and hear – coastal lagoons, reedbeds, woodland, wetland and coastal scenery, rare birds breeding and calling in on their migrations, shy wildlife like otters, the booming call of bitterns in spring, beautiful bugs and colourful wild flowers in summer. Families can discover nature in the exciting Discovery Centre and Wild Zone
