Laurie Squirrell, of Hitcham, was just 16 and a promising professional motocross racer, when an accident while racing in the US left her paralysed from the waist down.

Laurie, now 26, has been enormously helped in her rehabilitation by Back Up, an organisation which helps people affected by spinal cord injury. And now she wants to repay the charity with a fundraising event on March 13 – the day she left Stoke Mandeville Hospital where she was treated and, co-incidentally, her birthday.

If you’d like to support Laurie in her efforts you can buy a £50 ticket for a three-course dinner, auction, raffle and live entertainment at beautiful Kersey Mill at Semer (www.kerseymill.net).

To buy tickets call 01449 741444 or 07920289413 or 07909806100. For information about Back Up visit
