Two community-spirited organisations are joining forces to stage a fashion show with a difference at Debenham Community Centre on Friday, October 17. Proceeds from the evening will go to The Friends of Debenham Sports & Leisure and to The Blossom Charity.

Showcasing the new autumn and winter range of clothes from Dream-On, the catwalk models have been selected to represent women of all shapes and sizes and two willing participants from the audience will be given a ‘Gok Wan’ style makeover during the event. Clothes and accessories will be available to buy and there will be a raffle.

Based in Thorndon, Dream-On is the brainchild of Bridget McIntyre and offers personal attention for women covering fashion and style, coaching and training in new skills and body wellness. Recently, this Community Interest Company, established The Blossom Charity to provide development awards to women in East Anglia who face barriers which are inhibiting their ability to build their confidence and skills.

Debenham Sports and Leisure is a charity which offers sports and leisure facilities to the local community in Suffolk. The Friends of DS&L are currently fundraising to extend and refurbish the Community Centre kitchen. So far they have raised £27,000 of their £50,000 target.

Commenting on the event, Bridget McIntyre said: “We are excited to work with The Friends of Debenham Community Centre. We both share our aim of supporting the local community. The facility is great. We know that sometimes at fashion shows, we look at models and think ‘that wont look good on me’ so we do our shows differently. Our models are real women and we love to show how fantastic they can look in our clothes. We are looking forward to having a lot of fun on October 17 and it is not exclusively for women, we will have some men on the catwalk too!”

Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 including light refreshments and need to be booked in advance from Dream-On on 01379 678483 or from Debenham Leisure Centre 01728 861101.
