The National Trust has plenty of activities to put you in the festive mood among them the ever-popular Christmas Sparkle at Ickworth, a family day out for children aged 18 months to eight years.

After the feasting you can burn off some seasonal calories at Flatford’s Christmas Caper, a four-mile, 2.5 hour guided ramble through the beautiful landscape of the Dedham Vale, following ancient footpaths and lanes through the winter landscape. Saturday December 27, starting 10.30am. Booking is essential, tickets are £6.50 each.
