The Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra turns three this year and has already gathered a loyal audience who have flocked to concerts in Bury St Edmunds, Long Melford and at various community venues throughout the county.
The SPO, founded in 2012 with a spectacular concert in Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, has earned a reputation for the outstanding quality of its musicians and repertoire, and has an ambitious programme of four concerts in 2015 in Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Snape Maltings.
The season kicks off with a much-needed fund-raiser hosted by Philip and Raewyn Hope-Cobbold at Glemham Hall, Little Glemham on February 12. The evening includes a reception with catering, and wines from Adnams.
Auctioneer Chris Clarke will conduct a charity auction while the musical programme will include performances by two young stars – New Zealand violinist Benjamin Baker, and Russian pianist Petr Limonov.
Tickets are £60, which includes fine dining provided by James Alexander of The Main Ingredient, drinks and wines from Adnams throughout, recital and meeting the players, a visit to Glemham Hall, and an opportunity to bid for some splendid auction lots.
