Judges were looking for a product or brand that the county is proud to call its own by demonstrating the excellence of Suffolk food and drink production to the UK or even further afield.

Winner: Scarlett & Mustard

The judges said that this local producer has great branding and a good selection of products to be very proud of. Local Suffolk ingredients are used in all of their products and they pride themselves on provenance. Their products are widely available across Suffolk outlets as well as the finest food halls throughout the UK.

Highly commended: Anchor Smokehouse

The judges said that this is one of Suffolk’s oldest smokehouses where traditional methods of oak smoking are still practised. The family business has been on the site for 30 years but with the decline in the fishing industry, the business strategy has had to diversify somewhat. They are extremely proud of their success in keeping traditional methods of smoking fish alive.

Highly commended: Maximus Sustainable Fish

Chris Wightman describes himself as ‘Being Suffolk’. Chris’ family is made up of generations of Aldeburgh fishermen and he works with a true passion to continue serving the community with top quality, British and local sustainable fresh and smoked fish.
