A couple from Hadleigh have opened a new wine bar in Hadleigh, realising a long held ambition

Fay Carfoot and Rob Wicks took on the former premises of Frost and Partners estate agents on the high street last September and have opened Cobblers in the two-storey venue, taking the name from its earlier role as a shoe repair shop in the 1940s.

The ground floor is a wine bar, while upstairs has a private dining space and two cosy, café-style rooms with plush velvet loveseats and armchairs, a cupboard full of books and games to keep guests amused.

Fay and Rob are aiming to appeal to a wide range of people, including families with young children (the building has level access on the ground floor and baby changing facilities) friends meeting up for lunch or weekend brunch, clubs who can use the upstairs rooms, and people who want to relax with good wine and a platter of cheeses and charcuterie.

Cakes and quiches are supplied by Tiptree Patisserie, deli goods are from The Greek Olive Company in Martlesham and Hamish Johnston cheeses, bread is from Sparling and Faiers in Lavenham, and spirits from Suffolk Distillers.

Open 9am - 7pm Monday and Tuesday, 9am - 10.30pm Wednesday and Thursday, 9am - 11pm Saturday, 10am - 5pm Sunday.
