With rock bottom interest rates there has never been a worse time to be leaving money lying idle in the bank, say Reeman Dansie.

Reeman Dansie is noting an increasing number of new customers who are purchasing art and antiques as investments, and believe people are looking at numbers on a balance sheet and realising they’re not getting good value.

Customers now see the potential new investment opportunities such as classic cars, art and jewellery.

Top tips for new auction customers from Reeman Dansie

Buy what you like - fashions change for better or worse. If you like it, buy it and enjoy it.

Visit the sale in person - a picture may say a thousand words but you can’t beat holding the item in front of you.

Have a price in mind - think about the price you are willing to pay but consider that someone may always want it more than you do so don’t be disheartened if you are outbid. The diversity of antiques means there will always be something else.

The sale will focus on fine paintings from the local region and beyond and the company’s valuers are keen to welcome all with an invitation to consign. Entries for this sale will close by July 1.
