With so much going on around Suffolk this weekend, it’s not easy to decide what amazing events you’ll be attending. Hopefully our handy guide to 5 things to do will make solving your dilemma a little more straightforward!

Festive Wine Tasting near Stoke by Nayland – November 24 – 25

Hosted by wine merchant Promotion Wine at their listed and recently restored Oak Barn offices near the Dedham Vale, you’ll be treated to a number of incredible wines selected specifically for the festive period. There may even be the odd gin on offer to really round out the evening.

Tickets are £12.50 per person or £10 for party bookings over four people.

Chocolate Making Workshop at Lavenham Farmers’ Market – November 26

Take your first steps to becoming a master chocolatier as Sarah Knights of Chappel Chocolate House introduces you to where chocolate comes from, how it’s processed and how you can turn it into delicious treats. Sarah will use Belgian chocolate to demonstrate how to temper, mould and flavour this chocolate to your specifications.

Tickets are £30 and include refreshments, demos, tastings and a goodie bag.

Birds by Barge on the Stour Estuary – November 25 - 26

Hop on to Barge Victor and take a half day cruising down the river with your binoculars at the ready. Experts will be on hand to help you make the most of this bird-watching experience as their insights give you a look into the lives of the thousands of birds that call the estuary home.

Tickets are £43 for adults and £33 for under-16s with tea, coffee and food included in the price. The cruise lasts four hours and tickets can be collected from the Ipswich Tourist Information Centre.

It’s a Wonderful Life at Marina Theatre Lowestoft – November 25

Revisit the heart-warming 1946 classic in its full black and white glory at this theatre next to the harbour. It’s a rare opportunity to see this vintage film on the big screen once again so don’t miss out on a rare one-off showing and get yourself in a Christmas movie mood!

Tickets are £4.50 and include a hot drink.

Family Moon Night at Dunwich Heath and Beach – November 25

Get your warmest jacket on for an evening out around Dunwich Heath with your eyes cast towards the skies. Based at Heath Barn, experts from Suffolk-based DASH astronomical society will guide you around the night-sky and you’ll hopefully come away knowing the names of at least a few of the stars above us.

This is a free event that runs from 5pm to 8pm.
