Come and take a stroll around some of Suffolk’s great Christmas markets and fayres over the festive period.
Make the most of the cold, wintery days by enjoying a day out at one of the many Christmas markets Suffolk has to offer. From mulled wine to decorations, get into the festive spirit as you wonder around the many stalls bursting with Christmas cheer.
Get your hands on a great selection of handmade decorations and unique gifts for your loved ones this Christmas. Take a trip into town and you'll see this free market right next to the historic Abbey Gardens. Taking place on November 23 - 26 from 2pm on Thursday, 9am on Friday and Saturday and 10am on Sunday, you’ll be sure to find the perfect Christmas gift while shopping around the 300+ stalls. There will also be delicious street food and mulled as well as the quaint cafes and teashops in the area.
Come to Clare Town Hall for a market that will offer a fantastic selection of handmade craft gifts including candles, ceramics, artwork, and much more. A pop-up cafe will be available on-site serving seasonal fare and mulled wine to keep you warm as you seek out a beautifully personal present. The market is on December 2 and starts at 10am. Entry is free.
On December 2 - 3 come to this farm park on the outskirts of Ipswich for lots of market stalls, a brass band supported by a choir, reindeer, hot chestnuts and, of course, a glass of something warm to keep you refreshed. Entry and parking is free but usual charges apply for the farm park.
With over 40 stalls, this event offers shoppers an amazing choice of unique, beautifully designed and handcrafted gifts such as jewellery, pottery, soaps, cards and much more. There will be some exciting textile demonstrations by Norah Stocker from Fantasia Textiles. Norah runs a range of workshops and classes from her Coggeshall studio, including City & Guilds courses. There will be delicious homemade cakes served with tea in lovely vintage style crockery, courtesy of Plum Fairy who will be running the tearoom. The market takes place on November 18 and is free entry.
The coastal town of Felixstowe offers a traditional craft fayre and Christmas market for all ages. With Father Christmas to entertain the kids, enjoy a day out by the sea with a fantastic selection of food and craft stalls to choose from, you will definitely get into the festive spirit! There will also be a children's candlelit parade leading up to the switch on at 5pm. It's free admission, so why not stop by on December 2.
Two villages, Lavenham and Preston, have joined to offer festive shopping for the family, where you can spend a chilly day sipping on mulled wine with loved ones while you shop for unique and locally made gifts. Refreshments are served throughout the day in the beautiful, Christmassy atmosphere of Preston Manor Barn. Open on November 18 from 10:00am – 4:00pm and admission to the market is £3.
Have you visited the Copdock Christmas fayre before? If not, we suggest you spend a winter’s day strolling around the 60 stalls of the inside fayre, where you will find locally made crafted gifts, and refreshments that are served all day - and even Sunday lunch! Open Ocotber 22 from 10:00am - 4:00pm, there is a £1 admission fee before 2pm that is donated to Families In Need.
Get out to Ipswich's Suffolk Showground to meet the reindeer and pick up some craft gifts or a unique piece of artwork. Of course there is the opportunity to treat yourself as well, with items for the home and garden readily available. The fair runs from November 4 - 5 and admission is £4 for adluts, £3 for concessions and under-16s are free.
