March is seafood and Chardonnay month at the Salthouse Harbour Hotel and the Angel Hotel Eaterie, a month of fresh crustaceans accompanied by crisp, fruity white wine. To celebrate Mother’s Day mums eat free on Sunday March 30 between 5pm and 7pm. Booking is essential - 01473 226789 (Salthouse) and 01284 714000 (Angel) (T&C’s apply).

Ravenwood Hall, Rougham IP30 9JA

The Pavilion at Ravenwood Hall, with its carvery, is perfect for families with children. The selection includes wild honey and mustard glazed ham on the bone, crown of Norfolk turkey, roasted leg of Suffolk lamb, all accompanied by roast potatoes and seasonal veg, and followed by a trio of desserts, lemon verbena cheesecake, chocolate mousse, raspberry bakewell. There’s a children’s menu and a more formal menu in the main dining room. Mum gets a gift wherever you decide to dine. 01359 270345

Suffolk Food Hall, Wherstead

A set menu with some delicious suggestions including prawn, crab and crayfish cocktail with a Bloody Mary dressing, slow roast topside of beef, fillet of salmon, tomato and watercress tart, wild mushroom and spring onion risotto with shaved Shipcord, chocolate and hazelnut terrine, Chantilly cream, toasted hazelnuts. Two courses £19.95 or three courses £23.95. The normal restaurant menu will also be available, but there’s a gift for all mums dining from the set menu. 01473 786616

There’s a three-course Mothers’ Day menu at £45 per person and £20 for children 01787 247431. Sister restaurants Mariners in Ipswich and Maison Bleue in Bury St Edmunds were not advertising a special mums’ menu at time of writing – lunch or dinner at either would be a real treat. The Brudenell Hotel, Aleburgh IP15 5BU

Mothers’ Day dining by the sea with a special menu from chef James Barber offering lots of choice and reflecting his passion for local, fresh ingredients. All served in the sea-view restaurant on Sunday March 30 from 12 noon - 3pm.

Satis House, Yoxford IP17 3EX

No Mothers’ Day menu at the time of writing but the two AA rosette award winning restaurant at this sumptuous country hotel would be a real treat. Take a look at www.satishouse.co.uk

Tuddenham Mill, Tuddenham St Mary IP28 6SQ

New chef Lee Bye (read about him in our food section) has introduced imaginative new menus for both lunch and dinner at The Mill so why not give it a try? With the lovely mill pond and surrounding countryside it’s the perfect spring setting. Young diners catered for. Give it a look here www.tuddenhammill.co.uk.
