If the onset of winter is getting you down, you could bring some Midde Eastern warmth into your life with a visit to Maroque at Needham Market.

Julie Woodard’s treasure trove of all things Moroccan – from exquisite tea glasses to dazzling lanterns and inspirational furnishings – is bound to lift your spirits. Speaking of which, Julie’s put together a collection of Moroccan inspired cocktails. Try this one at home

Lemon and Thyme Punch

3cm of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped

5tsp of sugar

Juice of a large lemon

250ml of gin

6 large sprigs of fresh thyme, roughly chopped

650ml of traditional cloudy lemonade

Muddle, or mash the ginger and sugar together – this is easiest with a pestle and mortar. Tip into a jug large enough for the finished punch. Add the lemon juice and gin followed by the chopped thyme. Top up with cloudy lemonade and chill well. Add ice and serve. Makes about 1 litre.

You can download Julie’s Little Pink Drinks book, as well as other recipe books, from the Maroque website

Maroque also has some festive open days between 11am-3pm on November 30, December 8 and 14. A great place to do some Christmas shopping.
