A few scoops of ice cream are the perfect accompaniment to a warm sunny day. With that in mind we’ve found seven fantastic places for you to enjoy a tasty treat
1. Ives Ice Cream Parlour, Aldeburgh
Ives Ice Cream Parlour is a small family owned business that has been serving delicious ice cream to the people of Aldeburgh for over 19 years. All of the luxury ice cream on offer is sourced from local UK farmers. Guests will be spoilt for choice with over 30 flavours to choose from as well as sorbets and artisanal frozen yoghurt. They also sell hot chocolates, milkshakes and coffee.
2. The Little Ice Cream Company, Felixstowe
Referred to by some as one of the best ice cream parlours in the area, The Little Ice Cream Company serves delicious homemade ice cream in a huge and interesting variety of flavours. They also serve fresh coffee and a great selection of food for lunch or snacks from eggs Benedict to quesadillas. The staff are well known for their efficient and friendly service, even when the little shop is heaving – which is often!
3. Hadley’s at Lavenham, Lavenham
From it’s humble beginnings on a family farm in Colne Valley, Hadley’s has gone on to win a variety of awards for their fabulous ice creams with their unique and intriguing flavours. Everything is made from scratch, by hand, with a small team putting in the hours to crack, stir, whisk, zest and juice everything that goes into the final product. The ice cream can be bought from a selection of shops throughout Essex such as Lathcoats Farm Shop, Blackwells Farm Produce, and Buntings Fine Foods. Recently they have acquired premises in a wonderful spot in Lavenham where they have opened their very own parlour.
4. I-Scream, Ipswich
Since opening in 1999 I-Scream has become hugely popular for anyone with a sweet tooth in Ipswich. Tuck into bespoke, freshly prepared ice cream sundaes and milkshakes to your hearts content. You’ll be blown away by the staggering variations of flavours available and what’s more you can add a great selection of toppings and sauces to make your ice cream your own.
5. Galley Slaves, Bury St Edmunds
Galley Slaves, based in Bury St Edmunds, are a mobile catering service for any and all types of events. They provide hog roasts, buffets, fish and chips and burgers to a fantastic standard. They also sell ice cream from their vintage 1930s themed tricycles. They have been in the catering business for nearly 20 years and are the perfect accompaniment to a summer family party.
6. Southwold Boating Lake and Tearoom, Southwold
This quaint 1940s style tearoom on the Suffolk coast guarantees a warm and friendly welcome. Tuck into a light breakfast, a tasty lunch or any one of their delicious homemade snacks on offer from cakes, sandwiches or scones. Find a seat on the veranda overlooking the boating lake in the sun and enjoy a delicious ice cream.
7. Kaspa’s Desserts, Ipswich
At Kaspa’s in Ipswich they have worked hard to create an environment where delicious desserts can be enjoyed by the whole family. Treat yourself to waffles, cakes, crepes, milkshakes, smoothies and a staggering selection of ice creams.
